Best for: Android guests
Gooya is a good fit. There is no Android app to miss: the guest page is a web page, so an Android guest scans the QR code and sends from their browser exactly as everyone else does.
Android is not a fallback path here. It is the path, and on the one thing the two phone platforms do differently it is the better one.
What an Android guest gets
- The same page. There is one guest page and every phone opens it in its browser, so nothing about the flow is different and nothing is missing from it.
- No install prompt at all. The App Clip card is a Safari-only tag, so an Android guest is never asked to add anything to their phone.
- Picking several films at once works. On iPhone, selecting more than one film at a time hits an export freeze with no fix available to a web page, so only the first is kept. On Android every film in the selection is kept, up to 1.5 GB and 5 minutes each.
- A film that is interrupted resumes. Films go up in chunks and pick up from the last chunk the server confirmed, so a venue Wi-Fi that drops does not restart the upload from zero.
Where we are not the answer
If you are the HOST and you specifically want to run the event from a native app, that app is on the App Store only today. There is no Android host app, and this page will not pretend otherwise.
That is a limit on the host, not on the guest. Hosting from an Android phone means hosting from the web dashboard in a browser, which does the same work.
