Best for: a private album without an event
Gooya is a good fit. An album is not an event: there is no QR code, no table card and no date. You make it, you put things in it, and you share it with a link and a four-digit PIN.
Whoever holds both can open it in a browser, look, comment and leave a heart. They install nothing and they make no account.
Why it fits
- There is nothing to schedule. An album is open from the moment it exists to whoever holds the link and the PIN, so there is no date to pick and no moment to wait for.
- The link and the four-digit PIN travel separately, on purpose. A link on its own is a password: anyone it is forwarded to is inside. Splitting the album into something you send and something you say means a forwarded link alone opens nothing.
- A viewer can do exactly two things beyond looking: leave a comment and leave a heart. No threads about threads, no scoreboard.
- If a viewer happens to have the Gooya app, albums other people shared with them collect under Shared with you. That is the only thing the app adds here; everything an album does works in a browser.
What a free album holds
- It is kept for 7 days, counted from the day you make it.
- It holds 15 photos and films in total.
- Its PIN may be entered on 3 devices.
- Paying lifts the item ceiling and raises the device count to 100. It is still a cap, deliberately: an album that could be opened on any number of devices would be a public link with extra steps.
Where we are not the answer
If you want a link anyone can open with no PIN — a page to put on a website, or something to hand to a room of strangers — an album is the wrong shape. It is built to make a forwarded link useless on its own, which is the opposite of what you need.
And an album carries photos and films only. Voice notes belong to an event, so if the recordings are the point, run an event instead.
One thing no software can do for you: a PIN protects an album from a forwarded link, not from the person you gave the PIN to. If something in an album should not travel further, say so to the people you send it to.
