Does my guest need an app?
No. Your guest scans the QR code, a page opens in their phone browser, and they send from there — nothing to install, no account to make, no password to remember.
That is true on every phone, and nothing about the event depends on anyone choosing to install something.
The detail
- The guest page is an ordinary web page. A guest is recognised by their own device, not by an account, so there is no sign-up step between arriving and sending.
- On an iPhone in Safari a card offers the App Clip. A Clip is not an install: it opens, it is used, and it goes away. It is an alternative to the web page, never a requirement.
- A link opened inside a messaging app shows no card at all. The web page is the whole path there.
- A private album shared by link and PIN never offers an install either. That page is browser-only by design.
