What about Android?

Android works. The guest page is a web page, so an Android guest scans the QR code and sends from their browser exactly as everyone else does — there is no Android app to be missing.

The only place the two phone platforms behave differently is picking several films at once, and Android is the side that works.

The detail

  • There is one guest page and every phone opens it in its browser. Nothing in the flow is different and nothing is missing from it.
  • An Android guest is never shown an install prompt. The App Clip card is a Safari-only tag, so it simply does not appear.
  • Selecting several films at once keeps all of them on Android. On iPhone only the first is kept, because selecting multiple large videos hits an export freeze that a web page cannot work around. Either way a film can be up to 1.5 GB and 5 minutes.
  • A film interrupted by a dropped connection resumes from the last chunk the server confirmed, rather than starting again. That is the same code in every browser.

Is there an Android app for guests?

No, and none is needed. Guests use the browser page on every platform, so there is nothing for an Android guest to install and nothing they are doing without.

Can I host an event from an Android phone?

Yes, from the web dashboard in your browser. The native host app is on the App Store only today, so an Android host runs the event from the website instead — the same event, the same controls.
