Best for: no app for guests
Gooya is a good fit. A guest scans the QR code, a page opens in their phone browser, and they send from there — nothing to install, no account, no password.
This page says what that actually means in our code, and names the case where you should use something else instead.
Why it fits
- The guest page is a web page. Your guest arrives with a browser and leaves with the photo sent; there is no sign-up step in between and no password to forget.
- A guest is identified by their own device, not by an account. Nothing about them is collected to let them send a photo.
- On an iPhone in Safari, an App Clip is offered as an alternative. A Clip is not an install: it opens, it is used, and it goes away. The guest page works the same either way, so nothing on the night depends on a guest taking it.
- In an in-app browser — a link opened inside a messaging app, say — no install is even offered. The web page is the whole path.
Where we are not the answer
If every person you are collecting from is on the same platform and already signed in to it, a shared iCloud or Google Photos album asks them to install nothing either, and it costs nothing. That is a real answer and you should take it when it fits.
It stops fitting the moment the group is mixed, because then the people on the other platform are the ones being asked to sign in or make an account. A browser page has no other platform.
Try it before you pay for it
A free event admits up to 10 guests, which is enough to hand your own phone and two other people's phones the QR code and watch what happens. That is the only test worth running.
